South Carolina smashes one-day record for early voting

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – Voters cast a record number of ballots Monday on the first day of early voting in South Carolina for the 2024 general election.

The South Carolina State Election Commission said 125,900 people cast their votes on October 21, smashing the one-day record for early voting.

The previous one-day record was November 4, 2022 when just 70,100 ballots were cast.

“We are thrilled to see voters embracing the convenience of early voting, and we are anticipating a significant turnout for this election,” said Howie Knapp, executive director of the State Election Commission.

Early voting is available across the state through Saturday, November 2, with the exception of Sunday, October 27.
