Inauguration events for NC Gov. Josh Stein canceled due to weather

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Inauguration events scheduled for North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein this weekend have been canceled due to weather conditions, state officials said.

The Inaugural Committee announced Wednesday the inauguration ceremony, block party, and open house would not take place amid forecasted winter storms across the state. The committee is exploring options to reschedule the block party.

PBS NC still plans to stream Stein’s inaugural address at 11 a.m. Saturday, which will be available live on CBS17.com and on the CBS 17 app.

According to the Junior League of Raleigh, the Council of State Reception and Inaugural Ball will be rescheduled for a date later in the spring. The Thursday night Celebrate North Carolina event at CAM and the Friday First Lady’s Luncheon at the North Carolina Museum of Art will proceed as scheduled.
