Vice President Kamala Harris plans North Carolina visit to survey Helene damage

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Vice President Kalama Harris is scheduled to travel to western North Carolina to survey damage following Hurricane Helene.

Harris will travel to North Carolina on Saturday to survey the impacts of Hurricane Helene and receive an on-the-ground briefing about the continued recovery efforts occurring in communities across the state.

The White House reports the Vice President will also provide updates on federal actions that are being taken to support emergency response and recovery efforts in North Carolina and other states throughout the southeast.

Harris visited Augusta, Georgia earlier this week where she spoke with impacted families, surveyed damage, helped distribute meals, visited an Emergency Operations Center, and received a briefing from local and state officials.

President Joe Biden surveyed the damage in the Carolinas earlier this week. Biden also appeared at the state’s Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh for a comprehensive briefing on response efforts and the state’s greatest needs.
